Have you ever thought about what you are up against? Look around and have a look at all the different ‘fad diets’ that are available to you. Now I’m not saying that they are all nonsense, however they are not something I would ever recommend, and here’s why….. because they are written by people who don’t know the facts behind nutrition, how the body works or how to tailor your eating to your training. Take the 5/2 diet as an example. Eat what you want for 5 days and then eat nothing for 2 days. So lets strip that back, expect your blood sugar to spike and drop, making insulin response drop (the proven biggest cause of type 2 diabetes). Eat lots of bad fats (trans fats), expect low energy levels because of the sugar crashes. Sounds healthy?? No, so let’s move onto the 2 days food free. Guess what, your body is now in starvation mode, which means all those bad fats you’ve consumed, will now be stored, lack of calories is now placing too much stress on your body and increases cortisol levels, meaning, yes you guessed it, increased fat storage. But not only all of the above, you’re not going to sleep well, you end up with awful breath, your metabolism slows down and you end up with a huge deficiency.

So what I am really trying to say to you is, you don’t need a fad diet introduced by celebrities that don’t show you the facts behind closed doors, where they have a personal trainer beasting them every day, and chefs cooking them ‘real food’. What you need is a change in your mindset. You need to realise that lifestyle changes are not a quick fix, they help you every single day. You will get the nutrients you need, you will get the sleep you need, you will get a new motivation, you will get the body you wanted, but most importantly you will get a lifestyle which is sustainable, healthy and realistic.
